Theory course

RYA Day Skipper theory

This course is the next step towards becoming your own skipper. It equips you with the knowledge to navigate around familiar waters by day, use tide-tables, create a pilotage plan and plot a course to steer. You will learn the ‘rules of the road’, how to use the correct distress procedures and weather forecasting.

One of the best things about doing the course in a group environment is there is always someone to clarify anything that you may be struggling with, to ask questions and to be honest, it’s far more enjoyable!

Combined Day Skipper practical and theory course

Why not complete both your theory and practical courses in one go? This 10-day course starts with the shore-based theory; then while everything is fresh in your mind, we move straight onto the practical side of the course. This is a really great way to help reinforce and put into practice everything you have learnt from the theory.
